Munich (München en allemand) est, avec 1 326 806 habitants, la troisième ville d'Allemagne par la population après Berlin et Hambourg. Son aire urbaine compte 2 351 706 habitants, la ville est traversée par l'Isar.Munich est également l'une des villes les plus riches de l'Union européenne.
La ville est célèbre pour sa traditionnelle fête de la bière (Oktoberfest) en fin septembre début octobre.
C'est la deuxième destination touristique d'Allemagne après Berlin.

Au cours de la période Edo, Aizu était un domaine féodal connu sous le nom de domaine d'Aizu (会津藩) et une partie de la province de Mutsu.
